1. ABOUT THE AWARD
Pashudhan Praharee proudly announces the Dhanvantri Pashu Ayurveda Excellence Award – 2026, a national-level initiative dedicated to recognising outstanding veterinary professionals who are making significant contributions to the practice, promotion, research, teaching and development of Veterinary Ayurveda in India.
India has a rich heritage of traditional knowledge in animal healthcare. Ancient veterinary wisdom, particularly the principles of Ayurveda and traditional systems of animal treatment, offers valuable insights into holistic animal health, preventive healthcare, herbal medicine, animal nutrition and welfare.
Veterinary Ayurveda represents an important area where India’s traditional knowledge can be meaningfully integrated with contemporary veterinary science through scientific validation, responsible clinical practice, research and innovation.
Across the country, several dedicated veterinarians, academicians, researchers, practitioners and extension professionals are working to preserve this knowledge, promote its responsible application and create greater awareness about traditional approaches to animal healthcare. Unfortunately, many of these contributions remain insufficiently recognised.
With this objective, Pashudhan Praharee has instituted the Dhanvantri Pashu Ayurveda Excellence Award – 2026 to identify, appreciate and honour individuals who have demonstrated outstanding commitment, professional excellence and meaningful contributions to the advancement of Veterinary Ayurveda.
The award is intended to provide national recognition to deserving professionals and encourage greater academic interest, scientific research, responsible practice and wider acceptance of evidence-based approaches to Veterinary Ayurveda.
2. SIGNIFICANCE OF DHANVANTRI AND THE AWARD
Lord Dhanvantari is traditionally revered as the divine physician and associated with Ayurveda and the healing tradition of India. The selection of this auspicious occasion for recognising excellence in Veterinary Ayurveda reflects our respect for India’s traditional healthcare heritage and our commitment to advancing animal healthcare through responsible scientific approaches.
On the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras and Dhanvantari Jayanti in 2026, Pashudhan Praharee conferred the Dhanvantri Pashu Ayurveda Excellence Award upon three veterinary Ayurveda professionals in recognition of their contributions to the promotion and advancement of Veterinary Ayurveda.
The formal national announcement of the Dhanvantri Pashu Ayurveda Excellence Award – 2026 will be made on 30 November 2026, on the occasion of Indian Veterinary Doctor’s Day. This initiative is now being opened to nominations from deserving Veterinary Ayurveda professionals across India, so that more outstanding contributions can receive due recognition.
