Evaluation of Milkshakti for Growth in Calves
Objective:
Evaluation of Milkshakti for Growth in Calves.
Material and methods:
Selection of farm:
Shree Radhey Krishna Go-dham Sewa dal Trust Gaushala Reg No. 6705 in outskirts of Sangrur in Village Dharamgarh was selected. It was selected because of better hygienic conditions and with high yielding Buffaloes. Also the farm has a history of Hypocalcaemia and underweight.
Selection of animals
50 animals were evaluated as under weight. Among them 20 Murrah Buffalo calves were found underweight and weak physic with or without any generalized illness. These were randomly distributed into two groups with 10 animals each and labeled as control and treatment. The weight of each animal was done before the start of the treatment.
Feeding of animals
The control group was fed routine diet. The treatment group was fed routine diet along with 20 ml Milkshakti for 21 days. Animals were fed and had open access to water.
Weight Measurement
The weight was measured at 7th, 14th and 21st day. The Average weight gain of treated group was of 1.6, 3.1 & 6.30 kg respectively against the average weight of control group 0.8, 2.0 & 2.80 respectively.
Results
The tables below depict the results observed.
| No of animals | Pretreatment
Average Weight |
Post Treatment | Total Gain Kg | |||
| 7th Day | 14th Day | 21st Day | ||||
| Treated Group | 10 | 32.50 | 34.10 | 35.60 | 38.80 | 6.30 |
| Control Group | 10 | 32.20 | 33.00 | 34.20 | 34.80 | 2.80 |
*Pre treatment Average Weight: The Average weight measured at starting of treatment.
*Post Treatment Weight- the Average weight measured during and at the end of the treatment.
Discussion
It was found that weight was significantly increased in the treatment group against the average weight of 32.50 at the starting of the treatment to 38.80 at the end the 21 day feeding with Milkshakti, while in control group is was 32.20 to 34.80 in 21 days of normal feeding. It also provides various minerals and energy to the calves, cows or buffaloes, and also works in hypocalcaemia, as it provides the enough calcium, Phosphorus and Vitamin D3. Micro minerals and various Herbs are included in Milkshakti to provide high energy and Calcium supplementation to fight deficiency of Calcium and Minerals efficiently.
Conclusion
It was concluded that Milkshakti works efficient in underweight calves. It increases weight significantly. The 21 day feeding is efficient in increasing the weight to the normal and can be given continuously to the calves, and milk yielding animals.
