“Sustainability in dairy is not a choice—it is the future of food, farmers, and the planet.”
World Milk Day 2026
World Milk Day, initiated by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in 2001, is celebrated globally on June 1st every year to recognize the importance of milk as a global food. It highlights the contributions of the dairy sector to nutrition, sustainable livelihoods, rural development, and economic growth.
India, being the world’s largest producer and consumer of milk, plays a pivotal role in observing this day. It is an opportunity to celebrate the legacy of the White Revolution, led by Dr. Verghese Kurien, and to promote public awareness on the value of milk and dairy in our daily lives.
