Dr. R.K. Goel Memorial Excellence Award in Veterinary Homeopathy – 2026

Celebrating Excellence in Veterinary Homeopathy

On the occasion of World Homeopathy Day 2026, Pashudhan Praharee invites entries for the Dr. R.K. Goel Memorial Excellence Award in Veterinary Homeopathy – 2026. This national-level award honours outstanding, evidence-based contributions in veterinary homeopathy from across India, with a special focus on practical field impact, innovation, and scientific rigour.

World Homeopathy Day is observed every year on 10 April, commemorating the birth anniversary of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy, whose principles continue to guide both human and veterinary practice worldwide.

About the Award and Its Vision

The Dr. R.K. Goel Memorial Excellence Award in Veterinary Homeopathy has been instituted by Pashudhan Praharee, in collaboration with:

  • Goel Vet Pharma Pvt. Ltd.
  • Veterinary Association of India (VAI)
  • Agrovet Research & Development Foundation

The award aims to:

  • Recognize veterinarians and veterinary students who are advancing homeopathy through clinical work, research, case documentation, and popular technical writing.
  • Promote safe, sustainable, and residue-free veterinary healthcare aligned with AMR containment, One Health, and farmer-friendly livestock management.
  • Build a robust, research-backed narrative for veterinary homeopathy as a credible, integrative tool in animal health and production systems.

Dr. R.K. Goel – Pioneer of Veterinary Homeopathy in India

(23 June 1943 – 25 May 2005)

Dr. R.K. Goel was among the earliest and most consistent champions of veterinary homeopathy in India. For more than three decades, he worked to integrate homeopathic principles into mainstream animal healthcare, particularly for dairy and livestock farmers.

  • He completed B.V.Sc. & A.H. from Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi University, Jabalpur, in 1967.
  • He then pursued formal training in homeopathy at the Royal Homeopathic College, Lucknow, for two years, building a rare dual expertise in veterinary science and homeopathy.
  • During his 33-year service in the government veterinary sector, rising to the position of Deputy Director, he developed and field-tested homeopathic protocols for conditions such as mastitis, FMD, HS, meningitis and other infectious and production-related disorders.

In 1977, driven by his conviction that animals deserve safe, economical, and residue-free treatment, Dr. Goel and Dr. (Mrs.) Sushma Goel co-founded Goel Vet Pharma Pvt. Ltd. to:

  • Develop standardized homeopathic veterinary medicines,
  • Offer natural, non-toxic alternatives to conventional drug regimes, and
  • Support veterinarians and farmers with ready-to-use, field-friendly formulations.

Under his leadership, Goel Vet Pharma grew into a trusted name in veterinary homeopathy, helping to normalize its use among veterinarians, dairy cooperatives, and livestock owners. His legacy continues to inspire clinicians, researchers, and young veterinarians exploring holistic and integrative animal healthcare.

Why This Award Matters

  1. Empowering Veterinary Professionals
  • The award recognises Indian veterinarians and students who are documenting, researching, and applying homeopathic interventions in a responsible, scientific manner.
  • It provides a national platform to showcase clinical experiences, case series, and conceptual work that strengthen the credibility of veterinary homeopathy.
  1. Supporting Farmers and Animal Owners
  • Homeopathy offers cost-effective, residue-free, and welfare-oriented options, especially relevant for smallholders, organic farmers, and pet owners.
  • By highlighting successful models and case studies, the award encourages sustainable livestock management and reduced dependence on chemical-heavy interventions.
  1. Contributing to AMR Solutions
  • Overuse and misuse of antibiotics in livestock are major drivers of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) with serious implications for both animal and human health.drishtiias+1
  • Homeopathic protocols, when used judiciously and documented well, provide non-antibiotic alternatives that align with India’s National Action Plan on AMR and global AMR strategies.
  1. Advancing One Health and Sustainable Farming
  • By reducing drug residues, supporting animal welfare, and promoting low-impact therapies, veterinary homeopathy contributes to One Health, linking animal, human, and environmental health.
  • The award encourages thinking beyond individual cases towards systems-level impact in dairy, poultry, small ruminant and pet sectors.
  1. Stimulating Research, Dialogue, and Policy
  • The competition promotes scientific writing, case documentation, and critical analysis, helping to build an evidence-oriented body of veterinary homeopathic literature.
  • It aims to feed into broader research and policy discussions on integrative veterinary care in India .
