Meet the Woman Wildlife Vet…..Dr. Bhomika Shrimali
Hailing from Nagri , an historically famous area of Chhattisgarh with natural jungles and mountains , it was obvious for her to fall into love with environment , forest and wildlife right from her childhood while often roaming and growing there with her father who works as a “Ranger” in the Forest Department in Chhattisgarh Government .
She deliberately chose the field of Veterinary Science and completed her BVSc & AH from the only Veterinary College of Chhattisgarh in Anjora , Durg in 2017 . Post her Bachelor degree , she also started Masters in Live stock Production and Management from National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal but had to drop the course for preparation of Forest (Civil) Services .
As she could not live away much long from her profession of interest and soon joined as Veterinary Officer in the Nandanvan Jungle Safari at Nava Raipur,Chhattisgarh .
Her interest for Wildlife and Environment is not just limited to her work environment but goes much beyond that. She loves to spread the love and awareness about Wild Animals and Environment so as to protect the nature’s wonderful creation i.e our Environment , Forests and Wild Animals.
Recently during the COVID-19 lockdown period , she enrolled and trained a young zoo lover Amaan(age 7 year) from Raipur for a virtual Zoo_Ambassador program by Vandalur Zoo – Arignar Anna Zoological Park, Vandalur, Chennai and helped him become the first young Zoo_Ambassador in Chhattisgarh. Along with her work & passion as Veterinarian , she wishes to continue creating a network of similar wildlife lovers who can spread the waves of awareness , care and compassion for conservation of wildlife and environment.
